Young Chinese scholar makes breakthrough in complex differential geometry

Chen Gao, a 26-year-old professor with the University of Science and Technology of China, has drawn the attention of his peers after publishing a breakthrough study on Inventiones Mathematicae. Titled "The J-equation and the supercritical deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation," his paper builds a new bridge between two very important equations -- Kahler-Einstein equation and Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation.
