The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on November 5. For the first time, the exhibition area of this CIIE has exceeded 440,000 square meters. It draws 4,142 overseas enterprises from 162 countries, regions and international organizations. Both the scale of participation and the level of internationalization hit a record high among all previous editions. Anhui Province attaches great importance to CIIE participation, regarding the Expo as a vital platform for Anhui to connect with global markets, pool high-quality resources and advance high-standard opening-up. Over the first eight editions, Anhui organized more than 17,000 enterprises and 50,000 purchasers in total, with cumulative transactions exceeding 17 billion US dollars. To fully capture the spillover effects of the CIIE, Anhui hosted the “CIIE Comes to Anhui” event at the end of March this year. It attracted over 200 business representatives from 114 CIIE exhibitors, including 88 Fortune Global 500 companies and global industry leaders, as well as nearly 40 global and China-region executives. This event boasted the largest number of key enterprises and the highest-caliber attendees among all previous “CIIE Goes to Local Regions” activities.
For the 9th CIIE, Anhui has carefully formulated the Activity Plan for “Anhui Goes to the CIIE” and set up a high-level trade delegation. Nearly 1,300 entities and more than 5,000 individuals have registered for participation. A dedicated industrial investment attraction team, consisting of the provincial working groups for emerging industries and future industries, has been established. It actively facilitates procurement negotiations, investment and talent recruitment, and hosts special events such as emerging industry matchmaking sessions. These efforts aim to turn CIIE exhibits into tradable goods and exhibitors into investors.
