On October 25, the 2026 China Triathlon Open Huangshan, and the Taiping Lake Cup · Huangshan International Triathlon, started on the waters of Taiping Lake in Huangshan District. Nearly 1,000 triathletes from home and abroad gathered by the lake to race against wind and waves.

The event features six categories, including the Middle-Distance Elite, Middle-Distance Full Age-Group, Middle-Distance Half Age-Group, and Duathlon, balancing high-level professional competition with inclusive public fitness experience. The race route links the core waters of Taiping Lake and lakeside towns, with swimming, cycling and running courses seamlessly woven into the picturesque landscape of Huizhou. During the competition, the "Huizhou Charm of Lake and Mountain" Carnival was held at the main venue, featuring a Huizhou-style market, intangible cultural heritage displays, local specialty sales, the "Huangshan Triathlon Preferred" agricultural-support live stream, concerts and other special sections. Working with professional travel agencies, the event rolled out exclusive cultural and tourism routes such as "Meet Huangshan" and "Encounter Huizhou". Ticket discounts and exemptions were available for 16 scenic spots including Huangshan Scenic Area, Feicui Valley and Jiulong Waterfall. This allows athletes to immerse themselves in local charm after finishing the race. The event has evolved from a mere sports contest into a comprehensive city branding activity, continuously unlocking the integrated value of "sports + cultural tourism + consumption". This event marks an important practice for Huangshan to deepen the integrated development of the "Sports Plus" model. Using the race as a bridge, it showcases Huangshan’s achievements in green development and profound cultural heritage, converts event popularity into driving forces for local growth, and supports Huangshan in building a high-quality outdoor sports destination and an international city of sports events.
