On January 4, reporters learned from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. that the newly opened Hefei-Xinyi High‑speed Railway Hefei-Sixian section received strong traffic during the New Year holiday. The line carried more than 8,000 passengers per day on average, allowing more residents to take high‑speed trains close to home and boosting tourism flows along the route.

From January 1 to 3, the Yangtze River Delta railway network transported 9.748 million passengers, with a daily average of 3.249 million passengers. On the day before the holiday, December 31, 2025, passenger flow exceeded 3.5 million, and on January 1 it reached as high as 3.766 million, breaking the single‑day passenger flow record for the Yangtze River Delta railway for two consecutive days.

During the holiday, passenger flows on the Yangtze River Delta railways showed a "peak at the beginning and end, steady in the middle" pattern. Short and medium distance routes were the most popular. Notable increases in passenger volumes were seen on routes between the Yangtze River Delta and Jiangxi, Fujian, Shandong, and Henan provinces, as well as within the three provinces and one municipality of the Yangtze River Delta region.
