On May 11, great news came from the women’s 4×100 meter relay at the World Athletics Relay Championships: the Chinese team, composed of Chen Yujie, Li Yuting, Zhu Junying, and Ge Manqi, won first place in their heat with a time of 43.03 seconds in the second round, securing a direct qualification spot for the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.

As the second runner for the Chinese team, Li Yuting played a key role in acceleration, baton exchange, and rhythm control during the race. After the first-leg runner Chen Yujie started, Li Yuting quickly got into her stride, completing the straight sprint and baton handoff with near-perfect stride frequency. Drawing on years of international competition experience, Li Yuting remained steady under pressure, often shouldering the responsibility of maintaining team rhythm in crucial races. This time, she delivered a flawless performance, proving her absolute strength as a core figure in Asian women’s sprinting.

Li Yuting was born in 2002 in Guji Town, Jieshou City, Anhui Province. She showed athletic talent as early as middle school. In 2016, at the Jieshou City Spring Athletics Meet for Primary and Secondary School Students, she won the 100 meters with a time of just over 13 seconds and was subsequently recommended to train professionally at Fuyang Sports School. After several months of systematic training, coach Mao Haining recommended her to the Anhui Provincial Athletics Team. Under the scientific guidance of provincial team coach Mao Zijian, Li Yuting’s performance improved rapidly. She won the double 200m titles at the 2018 National Youth (U18) Athletics Championships, two gold medals in the 200m and mixed relay at the 2019 Asian Youth Athletics Championships, and earned a silver in the women’s 200m and gold in the 4×100m relay at the 19th Asian Games. In 2025, she won the women’s 200m championship at the first leg of the National Athletics Grand Prix.
