Recently, at the construction site of the Shushan Hub Project for the second phase of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe water diversion project, work on the Shushan double-line ship lock is proceeding in an intense and orderly manner. Since the beginning of this year, the second phase of the project has been firmly focused on its goals and has accelerated construction, constantly "refreshing" the progress of various construction tasks. The five major components of the second phase—the main water conveyance project, the pillar water supply project, the shipping support project, the water system connectivity project, and the intelligent dispatch system—are all advancing rapidly. Up to now, a total investment of 7.393 billion yuan has been completed in the second phase of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe water diversion project, accounting for 36.39% of the total project investment of 20.317 billion yuan. Reporters have learned that the Shushan Hub Project of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe water diversion project consists of a ship lock, water pumping station, and sluice gates, providing multiple functions such as water conveyance, navigation, and flood discharge. Up to now, the Shushan Pumping Station and the Shushan First Line Ship Lock have been completed and put into operation. The construction for the Shushan Double-Line Ship Lock is underway, with the final two sections of the ship lock's water conveyance corridor undergoing concrete pouring, metal structure and electrical installation work, scheduled for completion in May 2025. The second phase of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe water diversion project is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects identified by the State Council and is also an essential part of our province's modern water network pillar project. Once completed, the project will further unlock the immense potential of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe water diversion project in optimizing water resource allocation, urban backup water sources, and river and lake ecological protection.
