Since the beginning of the year, the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. has firmly grasped the opportunity period of foreign trade and export, supported the development of the country's export-oriented economy, and continued to promote the growth of rail-sea intermodal transportation. As of May 14th, the annual completed volume of rail-sea intermodal transportation in the Yangtze River Delta region has exceeded 970,000 TEUs, up over 20% year-on-year.

In the first four months of this year, China's foreign trade scale reached a new high for the same period, with monthly imports and exports in April reaching 3.64 trillion yuan, shifting from negative to positive growth, up 8% year-on-year. In the Yangtze River Delta, the main region of China's export-oriented economy, the railway department has closely followed the market trend, strengthened freight capacity support, and strived to reduce social logistics costs, in order to help sustain the positive momentum of foreign trade exports.

At the end of 2023, the newly opened Hefei Paihe Port Railway Logistics Base and the Ningbo-Jinhua Railway continuously increased lines and expanded capacity. Since the second quarter, the China Railway Shanghai Group has operated more than 10 rail-sea intermodal trains per week from Hefei Paihe Port and Ningbo-Jinhua Railway to the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.

At the same time, the China Railway Shanghai Group has strengthened its cooperation with the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) rail-sea intermodal project and optimized transportation organization. Since the second quarter, the SIPG has dispatched 114,000 rail-sea intermodal containers, up 38.6% year-on-year.
