On April 6th, at the site of the Feidong Centralized Drinking Water Source Protection and Watershed Ecological Restoration (Phase I) Project upstream of Zhongxing Reservoir in Yuantuan Town, Feidong County, workers gave up their holiday rest to expedite construction efforts, ensuring that the main water reservoir is safer and more reliable.

The Feidong Centralized Drinking Water Source Protection and Watershed Ecological Restoration (Phase I) Project aims to improve the water quality of the main tributaries entering Zhongxing Reservoir, establish a water ecosystem, and create a stable and comprehensive self-purification system for the aquatic ecology. The total investment for the project is 135.0295 million yuan, which includes environmental remediation and ecological restoration projects for Zhongxing Reservoir and Daishan Reservoir, isolation and protection projects, and eutrophication control projects for the water source area. The project involves five towns and townships: Yuantuan Town, Bailong Town, Gucheng Town, Zhongxing Township, and Paifang Hui and Manchu Ethnic Township in Feidong County. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. By then, the domestic water supply for Feidong County and Longgang District in Hefei will be healthier and safer.
