Recently, the Organizing Committee of the National Forest Conservation Activities announced the list of National Youth Nature Education Green Camps for the year 2023. The Anhui Forestry High-Tech Development Center and the Anhui Yangtze Alligator National Nature Reserve are among them. Currently, our province has three National Youth Nature Education Green Camps. The Anhui Forestry High-Tech Development Center, located in the northern part of Luyang District, Hefei City, has been conducting ecological science popularization and nature education activities for young people since its establishment in 2000. With existing forest, water, and grassland resources, it has developed nine functional zones, including science popularization and education area, management service area, and forestry ecological science popularization area. There are multiple science popularization activity sites such as forestry science popularization exhibition hall, plant tissue culture center, seedling greenhouse, planting experience, picking experience, bird-watching, fish-watching, and alligator-watching. It receives more than 2,000 students annually and serves as an important window for forestry science popularization in Anhui. The Anhui Yangtze Alligator National Nature Reserve is located in the cities of Xuancheng and Wuhu. It is the main distribution area of the rare and endangered Yangtze alligator. The reserve is home to 958 species of vascular plants and 354 species of wild vertebrates. It receives over 2,500 students and teachers from various places each year and has become the only nature education base in the country with the Yangtze alligator as its featured species. Anhui province will continue to organize forest-themed study and education activities for young people based on the designated National Youth Nature Education Green Camps, deepen the efforts in promoting forest conservation activities, accelerate green development, and promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
