On the evening of December 10th, an important show of the "New Era, New Huiban (opera troupes from Anhui), New Outlook" High-quality Plays Exhibition, the Huangmei Opera "Female Consort Prince" performed at the Beijing Comedy Theatre and received a warm welcome from the audience in the capital. "Female Consort Prince" is known as the flagship production of the Anhui Huangmei Opera Theater. It tells the story of Feng Suzhen risking her life to save her husband, going through various twists and turns, and finally achieving a happy marriage. It has been performed regularly for decades without losing its appeal. The play has won the "Special Jury Award" at the Traditional Chinese Opera Festival in Paris and the "Best Play Award" at the Australian Multicultural Festival. Sun Juan, a national first-class actor from the Anhui Huangmei Opera Theater and recipient of the Chinese Theatre "Plum Blossom Award," leads an outstanding cast featuring young actors from across the theater, showcasing the vibrant vitality of Anhui's excellent traditional culture in the new era. The "New Era, New Huiban, New Outlook" High-quality Plays Exhibition is co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, the Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Anhui Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles. From November 29th to January 17th, 2024, eight theater troupes from Anhui will present 12 outstanding productions, including Huangmei Opera, Anhui Opera, Huaibei Bangzi Opera, dramas, musicals, and dance dramas, in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and some cities within the province, totaling 21 wonderful performances. The diverse genres and rich repertoire will showcase the achievements of Anhui's literary and artistic development, highlighting the unique charm of Anhui's cultural heritage.
