24 Solar Terms: Grain Buds

The Grain Buds is one of the 24 solar terms in traditional Chinese culture that marks the arrival of late spring and early summer season. It usually falls on or around May 20th and signals the final stage of planting for most crops. 

During the Grain Buds, warmer temperature and longer daylight hours boost plant growth rapidly. Farmers observe this solar term by seeding and planting their crops, as well as through various cultural practices such as offering sacrifices to ancestors and deities like Silkworm God for a good harvest. It's a time of vitality and energy, as the natural world reaches its peak of activity before the onset of summer.
