At 0:30 on November 1, a freight train carrying 1,000 tons of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules left the logistics base of Hefei North Railway Station and headed to Jinchang city, Gansu province, marking the successful launch of the Hefei-Jinchang PV products route. It is reported that the solar PV modules loaded on this train will take about 60 hours to cross the five provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Shaanxi, and Gansu and arrive at Jinchang, 2051 kilometers away. To solve the problem that PV modules are afraid of extrusion and collision during transportation, the Hefei Freight Center of China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. used airbags and foam pads to buffer and protect the goods when the modules were loaded. Hou Zhongcheng, the marketing manager of the freight center, told reporters that the route adopts "point-to-point" direct transportation, which cut the midway stations and shortened the transportation time from nearly 100 hours to about 60 hours. According to the plan, the center will send out 400 railcars of PV new energy products every month, with the cargo weight exceeding 10,000 tons.
