Huangshan Mountain Rejects Risky Visitors

Huangshan Mountain, one of China's hottest tourism attractions — located in Anhui province — will reject visitors from medium- and high-risk coronavirus areas starting on Wednesday.

The management committee of the mountain, known also as Yellow Mountain, released an announcement online on Tuesday in an effort to minimize chances of infection.

Regional risk information provided by the State Council shows that Beijing's Chaoyang district is now the country's only high-risk area, while some parts of Heilongjiang and Guangdong provinces are considered medium risk.

In addition, tourists should provide negative coronavirus test results or a positive antibody test if they come from Wuhan, Hubei province. The tests should be conducted within seven days of entry to the mountain area.

Visitors with a Wuhan residency who have not been there since the outbreak should provide documents to prove their absence, the announcement said.

People subject to the screening measures will not be able to make an appointment for admission, while others are required to make appointments online before arrival.

Earlier, the daily limit of visitors to the scenic spot had been lowered to 15,000, substantially fewer than the 50,000 per day before the COVID-19 outbreak.

Huangshan Mountain is listed as a UNESCO cultural and natural heritage and a World Geopark.
