On January 13, the Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport in Wuhu City, Anhui Province witnessed a crucial moment before its official operation. As an Airbus A320 plane arrived at the Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport, the airport successfully accomplished all the verification test flight tasks, marking its fulfilment of the basic requirements for civil aviation.
At 10:12 a.m. , Flight MU799 of China Eastern Airlines took off from the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and landed smoothly at the Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport at 11:00 a.m. With all pre-flight preparations completed, the flight took off again at 15:30 pm, and a series of air and ground taxiing tests were carried out to verify the airport's flight procedures and minimum operating standards. It also inspected the airport's facilities including communication devices, navigation lights, runway surface, signage, taxiing routes, parking space, clearance area, etc. The capability of air traffic control, operation support, and emergency response is also examined.
The Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport is a 4C class civil airport jointly funded by the two cities of Wuhu and Xuancheng in Anhui Province. It is now actively negotiating with the Anhui branch of China Eastern Airlines over the layout of the air transport network in order to better facilitate the development of trade and travel in southern Anhui.
