Three people from east China’s Anhui province were honored national ethical role models while recognition was given to another seven as nominees on Thursday.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, met with representatives of the award-winning models and nominees at a symposium held in Beijing yesterday.
Anhui province, home to three role models this year, ranked No.1 in the country. It also outshone any other counterpart as the total number of role models here reached 22.
The three national role models are Ye Lianping, a 92-year-old retired teacher in Buchen village of Hexian county who has given English lessons to left-behind children for free since 2000, Zhu Hengyin, who has made major contributions to the province’s geological sci-tech innovation, and Zhang Jiafeng, a rural resident in Guzhen county who has taken good care of his paralyzed wife since they were in the dating relationship.
Meanwhile, 22 nominees from the province were awarded.
At the symposium, a total of 58 ethical role models from across the country were honored.
