From July 15th to 23rd, the 2022 World Fencing Championships, the highest level fencing competition of the year, will be held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
The Chinese team will send 26 fencers to participate in all 12 events for men and women. Among them, the epee fencers Lan Minghao and Yu Lefan from Anhui will participate in individual and team competitions.
The World Fencing Championships is hosted by the International Fencing Federation. Together with the Olympic Fencing, they are recognized as the two major international events in fencing. Due to the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Championships in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled. So far, nearly 950 fencing masters from all over the world have registered for this tournament.
Anhui epee fencer, Lan Minghao
As the backbone of the men's epee team, Lan Minghao won third place in the individual event and fourth place in the team event at the Asian Championships last month. He is in good competitive condition.
