On June 28th at 10:00, the first inter-provincial intercity railway in China, the Chuzhou-Nanjing Intercity Railway (Chuzhou section), was officially opened. On July 5th, the interview team visited Chuzhou High-speed Railway Station and experienced the convenient transportation brought by the railway.

The intercity exchanges between Chuzhou, Anhui and Nanjing, Jiangsu a long-standing tradition. As a landmark project for the interconnectivity of transportation infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region and the "Number One Project" for the open development of Chuzhou, the Chuzhou-Ningjing Intercity Railway has carried the expectations of millions of people from both cities since its inception.

"After the opening and operation of the line, the time and space distance between Chuzhou and Nanjing has been greatly shortened, This has not only met the diverse travel needs of residents in both cities, but also facilitated high-level exchanges and integration across various fields on a large scale." Feng Huasong, the chief engineer of the Chuzhou-Nanjing Intercity Railway, introduced that the Chuzhou-Ningjing Intercity Railway starts from Chuzhou High-speed Railway Station in Chuzhou City, Anhui Province and ends at the planned Nanjing North Station in Nanjing, with a total length of about 55.35 km, 17 stations, including 3 underground stations and 14 elevated stations, with an average station spacing of 3.43 km. It adopts the urban D-type train, with a designed speed of 120 km/h (reserved for 140 km/h). Compared with subway, it is faster and more comfortable, and compared with high-speed railway, it has more frequent trips and more affordable prices.

In recent years, "the Yangtze River Delta on rails" has developed rapidly. In Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, there are more than 20 high-speed railway lines and more than 200 high-speed railway stations, forming a fast passenger transportation network. It is reported that according to the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the development of the Yangtze River Delta Railway, by 2025, "the Yangtze River Delta on rails" will be basically completed. At that time, the operating mileage of the Yangtze River Delta Railway will be nearly 16,700 kilometers, including nearly 9,200 kilometers of high-speed railway mileage. The main channels of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network will all be connected, and the branch network will be more smooth, providing reliable support for the higher quality integrated development of the region.
