Lotus root planting industry in Lujiang County brings farmers higher income

Currently, Lujiang County's lotus root market has entered its peak season lasting for 2 months as the county's 30,000 mu of "fragrant lotus roots" have gradually ripened. As a famous specialty of Lujiang, fragrant lotus roots are especially popular among consumers and vegetable middlemen as they are tasty, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, which made them the gold mine of local farmers.

In recent years, Lujiang County has been dedicated to agricultural restructuring by implementing new farming systems such as rice-lotus intercropping and an integrated lotus-shrimp farming system.
