Feidong County: environmental protection brings clear water

The aerial photo of the Paifang Township segment of Zhongxing reservoir in Feidong County shows a beautiful view of crystal clear water surrounded by green shore. In recent years, with the notion of "green development", Feidong County has made great efforts to protect the ecology of the waters in the Pishihang irrigation area and has established an eco-compensation mechanism in reservoir conservation areas. The county also hires government officials as "river chiefs" at county, township, and village levels. Several years of continuous shoreline management and reforestation has paid off as the quality of local water supply has been improved significantly. Currently, the average amount of annual water supply of Zhongxing reservoir is 13.44 million cubic meters, which has ensured the drinking water safety of the 500,000 residents in the urban areas of Feidong.
