Released on July 28, the 2026 Fortune Global 500 raised its entry threshold to 33.2 billion US dollars. China has 122 listed enterprises, ranking second in the world. Two Anhui manufacturers made the list: Chery Automobile ranks 383rd, and Tongling Nonferrous Metals Holdings ranks 436th, up 15 places year on year. This year is the first time Chery participates in the ranking as a listed firm, boasting outstanding growth speed. Founded 29 years ago, it has sold over 20 million vehicles worldwide. In the first half of the year, its auto exports hit 943,800 units, surging 71.5% year on year and setting new national monthly export records for four consecutive months. With self-developed core technologies in electrification and intelligent driving, Chery achieves an ROE of over 36%, placing its profitability efficiency among the world’s best. Tongling Nonferrous Metals has been included in the Global 500 for eight straight years. Amid industry challenges such as tight copper ore supply and low processing fees, it deepens its full copper industrial chain, develops copper-based new materials, and keeps investing in intelligent and green factory upgrades. Owning 2,690 authorized patents with a technology conversion rate above 90%, it sustains steady operation through complete industrial layout and refined management. The auto and nonferrous metal giants stand for two unique development paths of Anhui’s manufacturing industry. The province has only two Global 500 enterprises for eight years, leaving ample space to expand its leading enterprise lineup. Local champions including Sungrow, iFLYTEK and Conch Group hold strong competitiveness. More globally competitive Anhui-based companies are expected to emerge and raise the international influence of Anhui-made products.
