Recently, three batches of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries worth 50.0916 million yuan passed local inspection smoothly at the finished product warehouse of Chuzhou Gotion New Energy Power Co., Ltd., ready to be loaded and shipped to the North American market. "Since the start of this year, our company has exported more than 30,000 cartons of lithium batteries. All production workshops are running at full capacity with continuously expanding output," said Wang Ming, Deputy General Manager of the company.

Data from Hefei Customs shows that in the first five months of this year, Anhui’s exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 266.12 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 46.4%, accounting for 77.6% of the province’s total export volume. Among them, the new trio – new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and photovoltaic products – posted combined exports of 61.74 billion yuan, surging 108.7% year on year. The figure is more than double that of the same period last year, and their share of Anhui’s total exports has risen to 18%.

The global energy transition is now accelerating. The International Energy Agency forecasts that global sales of new energy vehicles will exceed 23 million units in 2026, with China supplying roughly 60% of the total. Meanwhile, the explosive expansion of AI computing infrastructure has generated new demand for energy storage equipment. In its Q1 performance report, ChangXin Memory Technologies noted that global computing power demand keeps rising, DRAM products are in short supply, and their prices have maintained an upward trend since the second half of last year. Though this is a trend in the chip sector, the high power consumption driven by computing power has likewise pushed up overseas inquiries for photovoltaic and lithium battery energy storage systems.

To accommodate lithium battery exporters’ large-batch shipments and strict time limits, the customs authority has rolled out facilitative measures such as pre-inspection reservation and cloud-based certificate issuance. Combined with the new smart supervision model for lithium battery packaging, these measures have cut enterprises’ shipment lead time by over 30%. In addition, a dedicated service team for the lithium battery industry has been set up. The team dynamically monitors updates to lithium battery technical regulations in major markets including the EU and Australia, guiding enterprises to adjust packaging designs, labels and other compliance solutions in advance. This effectively avoids disruptions to exports and reinforces the safety barrier for outbound shipments.
