On April 20, with the final arch rib precisely positioned, the main and auxiliary arches of the Xin’anjiang Road Cross‑Dianbu River Bridge — a 105‑meter‑span tied‑arch steel bridge constructed by Anhui Construction Highway & Bridge Group Co., Ltd. — were successfully joined. This marks a major breakthrough for this key controlling project in eastern Feidong, and paves the way for accelerated deck construction.

As a key project within Hefei’s eastern transport hub, the Xin’anjiang Road project is located in Dianbu Town, Feidong County, with a total length of approximately 657.81 meters. It serves as a crucial link between Feidong and Hefei’s urban core. The Cross‑Dianbu River Bridge is the project’s centerpiece, featuring a steel box‑girder tied‑arch design with a 105‑meter span and a total width of 50 meters. The bridge accommodates eight lanes (four in each direction) and uses over 4,000 tons of steel, offering advantages over conventional bridges such as longer span, higher stability, and an attractive profile.

To ensure accurate joining of the main and auxiliary arches, the project team optimized the construction plan and adopted a “beam‑first, arch‑later; segmental lifting” method, overcoming multiple challenges including the transport of large‑span components and precise hoisting control. Each lift and every weld were strictly controlled during construction, ultimately achieving a zero-error alignment of the main and auxiliary arches.

Next, the project team will maintain the momentum and work intensively to steadily advance deck system construction and ancillary construction, aiming for early opening to traffic. Once completed, the east–west traffic axis of Xin’anjiang Road will be fully opened up, strengthening ties between Feidong and Hefei’s urban center and injecting new momentum into the development of the Hefei metropolitan area.
