On February 26, Hefei Power Supply Company released electricity big‑data showing that, as of the end of January this year, Hefei's total installed new‑energy capacity reached 7,283 MW—placing the city among the top provincial capitals in the country—as Hefei accelerates the shift to green electricity for urban power consumption.

Additionally, statistics show that during this year's Spring Festival holiday, power supply in the Hefei area remained stable and reliable, with cumulative electricity consumption totaling 1.082 billion kWh—an increase compared with the same lunar period in 2025. On February 23 (the seventh day of the Chinese New Year), the maximum output from new‑energy sources on the Hefei grid reached 3.0204 million kW, accounting for 52.25% of total real‑time load.

In recent years, Hefei’s development in clean‑energy has advanced rapidly, with steady growth in installed photovoltaic and wind capacity. By the end of last year, the rapid expansion of new‑energy capacity made it the largest generation source on the Hefei grid.

However, the intermittency and variability of new‑energy generation make grid regulation more difficult. Against this backdrop, more advanced energy‑storage plants need to be deployed to smooth fluctuations in renewable generation and improve the grid’s ability to integrate renewable energy.

According to statistics, the city has put a number of new energy‑storage plants into operation, with a total capacity of approximately 479.1 MW/1,565 MWh, creating scaled grid ancillary‑service capability and continuously enhancing grid flexibility. Currently, Hefei’s new energy‑storage stations can supply nearly 10 million kWh of stored electricity and can feed power back into the grid during peak demand and critical moments.

In the new year, Hefei will continue to expand application scenarios for advanced storage, enhance dispatch and management capabilities, and further leverage storage facilities’ dual role in the integration of renewable‑energy and seasonal supply reliability—thereby supporting stable electricity supply for residents and urban operations.
