On January 14, the Anhui Provincial Industrial and Information Technology Work Conference was held in Hefei. According to the conference, from January to November 2025, Anhui's industrial enterprises above designated size recorded operating revenue of RMB 5.27 trillion, ranking 5th nationwide. The operating‑revenue scale of industrial enterprises above designated size is a core metric for measuring a region's industrial economic size, and this is the first time Anhui Province has climbed to 5th place nationally in that metric. From January to November 2025, the value added of Anhui's industry above designated size grew 9.3% year‑on‑year, 3.3 percentage points higher than the national average, ranking 3rd nationwide and 1st in both the Yangtze River Delta and central China. In the first three quarters of 2025, Anhui's industry contributed 46.4% to provincial economic growth, a record high since the 14th Five‑Year Plan period began. The province continues to stand out as a "major dark horse": a 6.2% year‑on‑year increase in industrial revenue above designated size is notable among the top ten provinces, and revenue scale has historically moved up to 5th nationally. Equipment manufacturing and high‑tech manufacturing have become core drivers, with sectors such as electronic information and new energy vehicles maintaining high growth. In 2020, the revenue of Anhui's industrial enterprises above designated size ranked 12th with RMB 3.8 trillion. By 2023, provincial industrial enterprise revenue had surpassed the RMB 5 trillion mark, reaching RMB 5,087.5 billion and climbing to 7th place nationally; the above designated size industrial revenue scale overtook provinces such as Sichuan, Henan, and Hubei, ranking 1st in the central‑western region. By 2024, industrial revenue further rose to RMB 5.49 trillion, moving the province up to 6th place nationwide and increasing its share of the national total from 3.6% to 4%. In just five years, Anhui's industry has made rapid strides to become a stabilizing ballast for provincial growth, contributing 46.4% to GDP growth and showing trends of rising positioning, improved structure, better quality and efficiency, emerging industries, and stronger enterprises. This is attributable to the provincial Party committee and government placing manufacturing at the center of the work agenda, adhering to a consistent long‑term blueprint, vigorously implementing a strategy to strengthen the province's manufacturing, and effectively fostering a strong atmosphere of prioritizing and promoting industry across the province. Choosing the right industry tracks and rapidly arranging them has also been a key reason. Early and accurate positioning in new industry tracks such as new energy vehicles, advanced photovoltaics and next‑generation energy storage, integrated circuits, new displays, and artificial intelligence has enabled the province to form chain‑clustered, agglomerated development momentum, allowing it to run alongside and lead nationally and fueling sustained, rapid, high‑quality manufacturing development during the 14th Five‑Year Plan. Looking ahead to the 15th Five‑Year Plan, the province's industry will place greater emphasis on deploying new industries and tracks, winning by quality, promoting industrial clustering, driving the digital‑intelligent transformation of manufacturing, enhancing industrial science and technology innovation capacity, cultivating high‑quality enterprises, continuing to advance open cooperation in manufacturing, and pushing for greater progress in new‑type industrialization.
