From November 20 to 23, the 5th International New Materials Industry Conference was held in Bengbu, Anhui Province. At the opening ceremony, major “attracting both investment and talent” projects in the province’s new materials sector were signed. Across the main venue and sub-venues, 162 projects were signed with a total investment of 70.197 billion yuan; Bengbu signed 79 projects with a total investment of 25.101 billion yuan. Held for five consecutive sessions, the International New Materials Industry Conference has gradually become an important platform for Anhui to connect with global innovation resources, showcase an image of openness and innovation, and promote high-quality development of the new materials industry. Data released at the conference show that over the past five years, Anhui’s new materials industry value added has grown by more than 10% per year on average. In 2024 the full-industry-chain revenue of the new materials sector exceeded 900 billion yuan and is expected to reach one trillion yuan this year. The province has formed three industry clusters each exceeding 100 billion yuan — advanced metal materials, advanced chemical materials, and silicon-based new materials — as well as industry chains in areas such as new display materials and new energy materials at the 10-billion-yuan level, providing strong support for the upgrade of the province’s manufacturing industry.
