On November 19, the “2025 NIO Cup” Formula Student Electric China (FSEC) & Formula Student Autonomous China (FSAC) Competition officially opened at Luogang Park. The event is organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers.

The competition attracted registrations from 94 electric formula teams and 35 autonomous formula teams, with more than a hundred teams present to compete. The event is divided into two main sections: static events and dynamic events. Static events include Engineering Design Report, Business Presentation, and Cost Analysis; dynamic events cover multiple disciplines such as Straight‑line Acceleration, Skid Pad, Autocross, Endurance & Efficiency Testing, and Trackdrive, comprehensively testing teams’ overall capabilities across many dimensions.

Jilin University’s JISU team, the defending champion of the electric formula competition—having won national titles in 2023 and 2024—remains a focal contender.

The Formula Student China series is not only a contest of speed and passion but also a cradle for engineering talent in the automotive industry.

“For students, completing this competition is top‑level engineering training,” said Yan Jianlai, Executive Director of the Formula Student China Series Organizing Committee and Executive Secretary‑General of the China Society of Automotive Engineers. Participating teams must design and build, within roughly a year, a small single‑seat race car that excels in acceleration, braking, and handling. Along the way, they must overcome precision manufacturing challenges and address funding realities. “Students who endure these rigorous tests will grow into elite talent for the automotive industry.”

To date, the Formula Student China series has run for 16 years. Over that time, the series has evolved with the pulse of the automotive industry—from a single event into a comprehensive series covering combustion, electric, autonomous, and hybrid categories—training more than 60,000 high‑level automotive professionals.
