On the global manufacturing map, Anhui is now prominently positioned: one out of every ten display panels worldwide is produced here, one out of every ten new energy vehicles in China rolls out from its facilities, and nearly 30% of China's industrial vehicles bearing the "Anhui brand" operate across the globe. Since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan, this land once known for agriculture and energy raw materials has staged a magnificent industrial transformation, historically stepping into the ranks of major industrial provinces. With an impressive performance showcasing "rising ranking, optimizing structure, improving quality and efficiency, innovating industries, and strengthening enterprises," it has demonstrated the robust strength of a "strong manufacturing province."

Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the value added of Anhui's industries above the designated size has grown at an average annual rate of 7.9%, 2 percentage points higher than the national average. In the first three quarters of 2025, it ranked fourth nationwide with a year-on-year growth rate of 8.8%, outpacing both the Yangtze River Delta and Central China region, highlighting its development resilience with "speed." Behind this advancement in overall scale is the continuous expansion of Anhui's industrial economy. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total industrial value added has surpassed the 1.42 trillion yuan mark. The revenue of industries above the designated size has leaped from 3.8 trillion yuan to 5.5 trillion yuan, achieving a climb in national ranking from 12th to 6th place. What is even more remarkable is the steady rise in its contribution—industry's share of the province's GDP growth has consistently remained above 30%, reaching 41.9% in 2024 and surging to 46.4% in the first three quarters of 2025. This means it has nearly supported "half of the economic growth," with its role as both a "ballast stone" and a "locomotive" becoming increasingly prominent.

Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the annual production of automobiles and new energy vehicles in the province has increased by 2 times and 15 times, respectively. In the first three quarters of this year, Anhui ranked first in the country in automobile production, new energy vehicle production, and automobile exports. The transition from traditional fuel vehicles to new energy vehicles vividly epitomizes Anhui's industrial ascent.
At the 2025 World Manufacturing Convention held this year, cutting-edge technological products such as flying cars and solid-state batteries were showcased in abundance. Among the 1,623 exhibited products, those from emerging and future industries accounted for as much as 62%. Behind this lies the solid progress of Anhui's ongoing industrial structural optimization. Since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Anhui has prioritized the development of strategic emerging industries, driving the manufacturing sector to build stronger foundations and enhance competitiveness. The output value of strategic emerging industries has achieved an average annual growth rate of 16.1%, with its share in the output value of industries above the designated size increasing from 40.3% to 43.6%, ranking third nationally. The share of value added from high-tech manufacturing rose from 12.2% to 16.1%, and in the first three quarters of 2025, it recorded a growth rate of 27.8%, the highest since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, contributing 46.2% to the growth of industries above the designated size. The value added of equipment manufacturing accounted for 42.4% of the total, exceeding the national average by 7.8 percentage points, establishing it as a crucial pillar of the industrial economy.

The continuous deepening of "attracting investment and talent" and the platform effect of the World Manufacturing Convention have injected strong momentum into industrial structure optimization. The 2025 World Manufacturing Convention attracted 659 international guests from 53 countries and regions, facilitated 735 cooperation projects with a total investment of 380.2 billion yuan, of which projects in the ten major emerging industries accounted for over 88%.
Innovation-driven development has been the core catalyst for enhancing quality and efficiency. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, enterprise R&D investment in Anhui has exceeded 100 billion yuan, with over 200 national-level innovation platforms established. More than 90% of industrial enterprises with annual revenues exceeding 100 million yuan now engage in innovation activities. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Anhui has consistently nurtured advanced manufacturing clusters, forming integrated industrial chains in sectors such as automobiles, high-end equipment, electronic information, advanced photovoltaics, and new energy storage. The revenue of the equipment manufacturing industry has surpassed 1.2 trillion yuan, rising to sixth place nationally, with high-end equipment accounting for nearly half of this revenue. Currently, Anhui is accelerating the development of a world-class new energy vehicle industrial cluster, focusing on "chain leader" enterprises within the industrial chain. In just recent years, it has attracted leading new energy vehicle manufacturers such as NIO, Volkswagen Anhui, and BYD. With an increasingly solid industrial foundation, component suppliers are also gathering in the province in growing numbers.

While industries are being revitalized, "Anhui-made" products are also accelerating their global expansion. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the share of mechanical and electrical products in the province's total export value has increased from 59% to 70.4%. In the first three quarters of 2025, exports of the "new trio" — new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products — surged by 71.9% year-on-year.
Anhui has achieved a historic leap: transitioning from a major traditional agricultural province to a manufacturing powerhouse, and from an energy and raw materials base to a hub for emerging industries. Standing at this new developmental starting point, Anhui will continue to steadfastly implement its strategy of building a strong manufacturing province. By leading industrial upgrading through technological innovation and empowering enterprise development with high-quality services, "Anhui-made" products will shine even brighter on the global stage, writing a new chapter in the construction of a strong industrial province.
