Organized by the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Provincial Automotive Office) and co-hosted by the Anhui Provincial Automotive Innovation Center and the Huainan Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the "Northern Anhui Special Session for Vehicle-Parts Matchmaking in the Automotive Industry" marked the first implementation of Anhui's nationwide initiative to solicit cooperation intentions. The decision to focus on northern Anhui itself carries significant symbolic meaning—it not only reflects a geographical inclination but also signals Anhui's adoption of a systematic, "collective operations" approach to integrate northern Anhui into the broader provincial automotive industry strategy. This move aims to promote the clustering of specialized vehicles, transform the auto parts sector, upgrade the aftermarket, and particularly seeks to unleash the industrial potential of county-level economies.

At the event venue, representatives from the automobile offices of all eight cities in Northern Anhui, relevant government departments, over sixty component enterprises from within and outside the province, as well as complete vehicle manufacturers including JAC Group, Chery, NIO, and Volkswagen Anhui were all present. Six high-quality component suppliers took to the stage for presentations, directly addressing technical requirements and collaboration opportunities proposed by the OEMs.

This marked a systematic mobilization effort aimed at upgrading the auto parts sector across Northern Anhui.

In recent years, the construction of new energy vehicle (NEV) industrial clusters in Northern Anhui has accelerated significantly. Huaibei City actively cultivates a base for lightweight aluminum alloy materials used in vehicles; Bozhou City promotes equity-based partnerships between leading firms like Chery Commercial Vehicles and core component suppliers; Suzhou City established Northern Anhui's first NEV Industry Research Institute; Bengbu City streamlined processes covering sensor R&D, manufacturing, validation, and industrial application demonstrations; Fuyang City built China's largest power battery recycling park; Huainan City leverages its Hefei-Huainan Cooperation Zone to actively attract supporting component projects for NIO and BYD...

Currently, Anhui has nurtured over 3,000 qualified component enterprises above designated size and more than 1,700 aftermarket service companies. A complete and globally competitive NEV industrial ecosystem has taken shape—spanning core technologies like "Three Electrics" (batteries, motors, electronic controls) and "Three Intelligences" (autonomous driving, smart cabins, connected systems), upstream materials supply, midstream precision manufacturing, downstream sales/maintenance/recycling services. In 2024, auto parts producers accounted for 60% of all firms across Anhui's automotive supply chain, contributing 48% of its total revenue. The capability "to build an entire new energy vehicle entirely within Anhui" has become reality.

In recent years, Northern Anhui has achieved remarkable progress in developing its auto parts industry, particularly breaking through in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. It has established a dual-track development model driven by both traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and NEVs.

The key to unlocking stronger growth momentum for county economies in Northern Anhui lies in integrating the component industry with emerging fields like advanced materials and next-generation information technology—comprehensively elevating their smart manufacturing capabilities. Northern Anhui is advancing toward systematic, clustered development of its NEV ecosystem, fostering a development trajectory from "leading enterprises-industrial chains-industrial clusters-full-fledged industry ecosystems."

Globally, the automotive sector is undergoing transformative shifts characterized by electrification, intelligence, connectivity, and shared mobility, fundamentally reshaping its landscape. In China, NEVs and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) have emerged as strategic priorities within emerging industries. As a major national automotive manufacturing base, Anhui province is vigorously implementing innovation-driven strategies and industrial upgrading initiatives to accelerate the cultivation of internationally competitive industrial clusters.

The inaugural vehicle-parts matching event marks only the beginning. This Northern Anhui special session was not just a high-level industrial gathering but also Anhui's practical exploration in promoting "OEM-supplier synergy and regional linkage." As the parts industry in Northern Anhui continuously upgrades through "filling gaps in the chain," "strengthening the chain," and adopting intelligent manufacturing, Anhui's automotive sector is accelerating towards an industrial spatial pattern characterized by "dual leadership from Hefei and Wuhu, breakthroughs by other cities, and coordinated development across the entire province."
