In 2024, Anhui Province exported 954,000 complete vehicles, securing the position as the top automobile exporter in China for the first time. Anhui's automotive industry now reaches markets across 195 countries and regions worldwide. In the first half of this year alone, Anhui exported 461,000 vehicles (including chassis)—maintaining its national leading position in auto exports. Behind this remarkable achievement lies Anhui's high-quality business environment. Local commerce authorities implemented a coordinated policy package to help automakers integrate deeply into global supply chains. This systemic approach has earned recognition from China's Ministry of Commerce, which designated Anhui's model as the only comprehensive provincial case study recommended for nationwide adoption.
Recently, reporters learned from the Provincial Department of Commerce that through an integrated mechanism combining institutional frameworks, supportive policies, and industrial platforms, Anhui has continuously supported auto enterprises in participating substantively in global industrial division and collaboration. This strategy has successfully cultivated the auto sector into a pillar export-oriented industry, achieving remarkable results. Due to its effectiveness, China's Ministry of Commerce has designated this model as the only systematically developed case in China to be shared nationwide for replication and promotion. Our provincial commerce authorities focused on key automakers by establishing dedicated working mechanisms to help them mitigate risks and stabilize growth, fostering cross-departmental synergy to jointly enhance service efficiency for enterprises. Recently, when Chery Auto reported challenges including inadequate local logistics capacity, constrained transportation efficiency, and high costs, Wuhu City conducted thorough research and implemented targeted measures. It formulated an integrated multimodal ("land-water-rail") logistics solution with extraordinary efforts—building zero-distance bases, opening up overseas channels, and connecting international trunk lines. This initiative is projected to reduce Chery's annual logistics expenses by approximately ¥40 million. The provincial commerce departments have assigned exclusive account managers to provide tailored services for seven major automakers, including Chery Auto and JAC Group. Through tailored strategies for each enterprise, they have successively addressed difficulties in market expansion, international logistics, cross-border settlement, and other areas. These efforts have helped these companies mitigate country-specific trade risks and resolve critical trade bottlenecks. In 2024, auto parts suppliers accounted for 60% of all enterprises in Anhui's automotive industry chain and contributed 48% of its total revenue. Concurrently, through coordinated policy support, the province has invested over 100 million yuan annually to facilitate international market expansion for both vehicle and parts manufacturers, fostering a 120-billion-yuan automotive export cluster. Anhui-made auto components are now deeply integrating into global supply chains, embarking on overseas expansion with strong momentum. Leveraging multiple policy levers—including those supporting new energy vehicle (NEV) industrial cluster development, high-quality auto exports, and NEV trade cooperation—provincial commerce authorities prioritized support for participation in domestic and international exhibitions and international product certifications by complete vehicle and power battery producers under foreign trade promotion programs. These efforts successfully positioned Anhui's automotive sector as part of China's third batch of national demonstration industries for enhancing foreign trade quality and efficiency. The Provincial Department of Commerce has deeply implemented the "Anhui Going Global" initiative, pioneering an overseas exhibition model featuring mini-exhibitions within larger shows to host six specialized displays on Anhui's automotive and parts industry. Leveraging the Anhui Business International Economic Cooperation Alliance, Anhui automakers are accelerating their establishment of overseas production bases—advancing from merely exporting products to achieving full-chain integration encompassing R&D, production, and sales abroad.
