On August 3rd, a pure electric new energy vehicle (NEV) was shipped by air from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, departing on Central Asia Airlines flight C67616 bound for Tel Aviv, Israel. This marked the airport’s inaugural air cargo export of fully assembled NEVs with batteries installed. The “Hefei–Tel Aviv” international cargo route is also the airport’s first cargo route to the Middle East.

With the rapid development of Anhui Province’s NEV industry, NEVs—one of the province’s “new trio” exports—have increasingly attracted overseas consumers in recent years. Compared to general cargo, transporting fully assembled NEVs with batteries installed involves multiple challenges, including oversize dimensions, large-capacity lithium batteries accompanying the vehicles, and strict aircraft cabin space requirements, all of which impose high demands on the transportation process.

Thanks to the close cooperation among Anhui Civil Aviation Airport Group, Hefei Xinqiao International Airport Customs, and other agencies, all necessary support and safeguards were successfully implemented. Compared with traditional sea freight, the transportation time has been reduced from approximately 30 days to just 1 day, greatly meeting overseas customers’ urgent delivery needs and providing a localized air cargo export solution for NEV brands.

“We currently operate regular international cargo routes to New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Amsterdam, Hungary, Tel Aviv, and other destinations, greatly enriching our route network and meeting diverse cargo transportation demands,” said a relevant person in charge at Hefei Air Cargo Investment and Operation Co., Ltd. The company will continue to focus on local key industry needs and, in conjunction with the development of Hefei International Air Cargo Distribution Center, will keep improving the air cargo route network.
