On July 24, the finals of the Chinese-style wrestling event for the mass competition at the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China kicked off in Qingyuan, Guangdong. In the women’s 56 kg category held that day, Anhui athlete Yu Huanhuan won consecutive victories, defeating strong opponents to claim the championship. This marks Anhui’s first gold medal at this National Games. Her teammate Liu Xiaoyang won the silver medal in the men’s 65 kg category.

The women’s 56 kg Chinese-style wrestling event featured 18 top competitors. Yu Huanhuan defeated Chongqing’s Pan Fengling in the round of 16, then beat Hebei’s Li Mengxue in the semifinals. In the final, Yu showed great fighting spirit, maintaining pressure on Hebei’s Wang Jinghong, and ultimately won 7–5.

In the men’s 65 kg event, Liu Xiaoyang won against Hebei’s Agudemu and Henan’s Bi Jianyu but was narrowly defeated by Hebei’s Burenjiri Gala in the final, taking the silver medal.

Yu Huanhuan was the 2024 Chinese-style Wrestling National Champion and the 2025 National Championship bronze medalist. Liu Xiaoyang won first place in the men’s 65 kg Chinese-style wrestling at the 12th National Traditional Ethnic Minority Sports Games in 2024.

The 15th National Games will be held from November 9 to 21, jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
