Reaching New Heights, Embracing Innovation: Anhui's Tech Enterprises Achieve Growth in Both Quantity and Quality

Pub Date:25-07-23 11:07 Source:english.anhuinews.com

To accelerate the high-quality development of technology-based enterprises, Anhui is currently implementing measures such as launching provincial-level key scientific research projects, fostering deep integration between industry and academia, and cultivating tech companies through tiered support mechanisms. These initiatives concentrate more scientific resources within businesses, providing crucial backing for cultivating new quality productive forces.

In recent years, Anhui has rapidly expanded its layout in aerospace information industries—from low-altitude to deep space—while continuously strengthening efforts to extend industrial chains and enhance independent innovation capabilities.

To better stimulate the "source dynamism" of corporate innovation and foster an enterprise-led innovation ecosystem, Anhui has deeply implemented the "Double Multiplication" for both high-tech enterprises and tech SMEs, accelerating the refinement of its tiered cultivation system for technology companies. Simultaneously, focusing on the most urgent technological needs within strategic emerging industries and future sectors, it has systematically deployed a batch of major scientific breakthrough projects. These initiatives support leading tech firms in establishing 21 provincial-level industrial innovation research institutes—collaborating across upstream and downstream enterprises, universities, and research institutions—to undertake over 150 industry-driven R&D projects.

Bolstered by a series of supportive policies, scientific and technological resources across the province are accelerating their convergence toward enterprises.

Currently, strengthening the principal role of businesses in scientific innovation has become both a key driver and vital springboard for Anhui’s technological advancement. From January to May this year, the added value of high-tech industries above the designated size in the province contributed 72.4% to the total industrial added value above the designated size, marking an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared to the January-April period. As of now, the province is home to nearly 23,000 high-tech enterprises—a 2.7-fold increase since 2020—ranking 8th nationwide, while the number of technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises has exceeded 35,000, approximately five times that of 2020, climbing to 5th place nationally.
