Anhui Tops Central China with 458.54 Billion Yuan in H1 Trade, Ranks 9th Nationwide

On July 17, at a press conference held by the Information Office of Anhui Provincial Government, it was announced that in the first half of 2025, Anhui Province’s total import and export value of goods reached 458.54 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. Among this, exports amounted to 309.85 billion yuan, up 15.4%, and imports totaled 148.69 billion yuan, up 14.7%.

Import and export scale reached a historic high for the same period, growth rate ranked first in the Yangtze River Delta

In terms of foreign trade scale, Anhui’s import and export volume exceeded 450 billion yuan in the first half of the year, setting a historic high for the same period. Looking at quarterly trends, in Q2, import and export grew 16.8% year-on-year, accelerating by 3.5 percentage points compared to Q1, marking 10 consecutive quarters of year-on-year growth. The total import and export value ranked 9th nationwide and 1st in Central China. The growth rates of total import and export, exports, and imports exceeded the national averages by 12.3, 8.2, and 17.4 percentage points respectively. The import and export growth rate ranked 6th nationwide and 1st in the Yangtze River Delta.

In terms of trading partners, in the first half of the year, Anhui’s import and export with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 248.49 billion yuan, up 14.9%, accounting for 54.2% of the total trade value, an increase of 3.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Among them, trade with ASEAN countries reached 61.71 billion yuan, growing 34.5%. Trade with other RCEP member countries amounted to 118.25 billion yuan, up 23%. During the same period, trade with the EU and Japan reached 61.32 billion yuan and 24.17 billion yuan, increasing by 20% and 28.1% respectively.

In terms of business entities, in the first half, private enterprises’ import and export totaled 237.75 billion yuan, growing 17.9%, accounting for 51.9% of the province’s total foreign trade value. Foreign-invested enterprises’ trade volume was 114.92 billion yuan, up 20.9%, accounting for 25.1%. State-owned enterprises’ import and export reached 105.82 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4%, making up 23.1% of the total.

Automobile (including chassis) exports maintain No.1 nationwide; province’s imports grow for three consecutive months

In the first half of the year, Anhui’s export momentum continued to strengthen. Exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 222.91 billion yuan, growing 18.5%, accounting for 71.9% of total exports. Among these, automobile exports (including chassis) totaled 461,000 units, maintaining the top rank nationwide, with new energy vehicle exports increasing by 29.9%. Exports of the “new trio” of green and low-carbon products reached 37.13 billion yuan, up 67.8%. Meanwhile, the “going global” of local brands accelerated, with exports of Chinese brand products totaling 155.98 billion yuan, growing 9.1%, accounting for 50.3%, with the highest proportion among all provinces and cities nationwide.

At the same time, expanding domestic demand has steadily driven import growth. With sustained efforts from the “two priorities” and “two new” policies, Anhui’s imports have grown for three consecutive months. In the first half of the year, imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 56.33 billion yuan, up 31.4%, accounting for 37.9% of total imports. Among these, imports of electrical equipment and machine tools both achieved double-digit growth. Important raw material imports also increased. Imports of metal ores and mineral sand reached 54.37 billion yuan, up 16.8%, accounting for 36.6%. Among these, copper ore sand imports totaled 40.51 billion yuan, growing 18.9%. Imports of natural and synthetic rubber, as well as pulp and its products, also saw double-digit growth.
