Research Tour on Vibrant China | Wuhu: Building Airplanes Without Leaving the Industrial Park

Stepping into the final assembly workshop of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) Wuhu Diamond Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd., robotic arms are precisely assembling aircraft components, while workers are methodically conducting the final adjustments. On July 3, the 2025 "Research Tour on Vibrant China" interview team discovered an amazing fact here: all the core components of a domestically produced aircraft can be sourced from suppliers within the 3-kilometer range of the Wuhu Aviation Industrial Park.

"From propellers to avionics systems, we have achieved 100% in-park supply support," said Tian Manlin, General Manager of the company, pointing to the aircraft being assembled. Key component suppliers such as Jin Xuanfeng (JXF) propellers, Huaming avionics systems, and Haery power engines are all within close reach. An electronic display shows that after adopting a pulsed production line, production efficiency has improved by 50%, enabling the assembly of a major component every 50 minutes.

As a leading enterprise in China's general aviation industry, CETC Diamond Aircraft has undergone 12 years of innovative development. From initially introducing foreign technology to now independently developing the CA42 twin-engine four-seat aircraft, which has obtained the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s type certification, becoming the first fully composite twin-engine aircraft in the country. "We have finally mastered the core technologies of aircraft design ourselves," Tian Manlin proudly remarked.

In the drone assembly area, the technical team is debugging the "Xiangyun 2X" meteorological drone. This model regularly performs artificial rainfall enhancement tasks, significantly improving operational effectiveness. Nearby, the "Zhanhong" emergency command drone has repeatedly participated in flood control and disaster relief, working continuously for 38 hours during last year’s Anhui flood season, providing vital support for rescue efforts.

Such industrial synergy benefits from the cluster development of the Wuhu Aviation Industrial Park. As one of the nation’s first comprehensive demonstration zones for the general aviation industry, the park has attracted nearly 200 aviation industry chain enterprises, forming a complete industrial ecosystem. In 2024, the park’s low-altitude economy sector revenue reached 46.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.95%.

Wuhu Aviation Industrial Park has not only achieved the goal of "building airplanes without leaving the park" but has also innovatively developed 19 nationally leading low-altitude application scenarios. Currently, companies in the park are partnering with JD Logistics to pilot a new logistics model combining "regional transport + drone transfer," further expanding low-altitude economic applications.
