On June 30th, reporters learned from the "Research Tour on Vibrant China" Anhui themed interview event for 2025 that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Anhui has listed the high-end equipment manufacturing industry as one of the ten emerging industries to be prioritized in the province. This includes robotics, which have seen breakthrough development and explosive growth.

In 2024, the number of enterprises throughout the entire robotics industry chain in the province exceeded 500, with revenues surpassing 60 billion yuan and production volume exceeding 30,000 units. In terms of total scale and industrial competitiveness, Anhui ranked fifth nationwide. Wuhu City was ranked 6th on the comprehensive ranking list of Chinese industrial robot cities, highlighting significant cluster effects.

At the same time, Anhui has taken a proactive stance in laying out the smart robotics industry. Currently, Anhui has gathered over 40 enterprises and developed 8 prototype products. Looking ahead, Anhui plans to introduce the "Anhui Province Intelligent Robotics Industry Development Action Plan" and specialized support policies. Following the path of "urgent market needs - technical breakthroughs - landmark products - scenario applications - enterprise cultivation - regional demonstration," it will be among the first to experiment and create a "2+N" industrial development pattern.

The equipment manufacturing industry has always been one of the pillar industries of Anhui's industrial sector. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it experienced explosive growth with an annual growth rate of over 13%, ranking first in terms of growth speed among the Yangtze River Delta and central region. It became the first of the ten emerging industries to exceed one trillion yuan, achieving a leading position. In 2024, there were 6,590 enterprises in the equipment manufacturing industry above the designated size in the province, generating revenues of 1.21 trillion yuan, accounting for 22% of the total revenue of the provincial manufacturing industry. This placed Anhui in first place in the central region and sixth nationwide. Industries such as industrial robots, computer numerical control machines, electrical equipment, and agricultural machinery are among the top tier nationwide.

Anhui has identified seven key development areas for high-end equipment industries, including industrial robots, high-end numerical control machines, modern construction machinery, rail transit, aerospace, medical equipment, and intelligent complete sets of equipment. It guides each city to gradually form an industrial layout characterized by "two cores and multiple bases." Hefei and Wuhu, as the core regions of the provincial equipment manufacturing industry, are developing into comprehensive innovation, research and development, and manufacturing bases for high-end equipment. Six cities, including Ma'anshan, Chuzhou, Bengbu, Lu'an, Xuancheng, and Anqing, are creating distinctive equipment manufacturing bases. In 2024, the province's high-end equipment manufacturing industry achieved revenues of 568 billion yuan, increasing its share of the equipment manufacturing industry from 38% in 2021 to 47%. Industries such as aerospace and high-end medical equipment have grown from scratch to reach a scale of tens of billions, rapidly demonstrating their immense development potential.

Currently, Anhui has established 42 national-level industrial innovation platforms and 93 provincial-level innovation platforms in the equipment sector. The province has formed 19 distinctive equipment clusters across 7 categories.

Looking ahead, Anhui will adhere to the approach of "integrating science and industry, strengthening weaknesses, building enterprise matrices, integrating chains and clusters, and optimizing ecosystems." It will focus on developing future equipment such as intelligent robots, industrial drones, high-end testing equipment, and smart agricultural machinery, with efforts directed towards structural optimization and scale expansion of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
