According to information from the Anhui Provincial Department of Finance, recently, the department allocated 50 million yuan to support the construction of the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) (Anhui). This funding aims to promote cross-regional, cross-field, and interdisciplinary collaborative innovation and open cooperation, building a high-level innovation platform that embeds Anhui within the integrated and high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta. It is understood that the NICE was inaugurated in 2021 as a comprehensive national technology innovation center jointly established by Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces. In April of this year, the Anhui branch of the center was launched, with plans to attract more innovation resources from the Yangtze River Delta region and globally, promoting the implementation of more innovative outcomes in Anhui. Fiscal departments at all levels across the province have consistently prioritized science and technology investment in budget guarantees, strengthened the coordination of innovation resources, deepened institutional reforms, and smoothed the channels for supply and demand matching, focusing on breaking bottlenecks in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Focusing on the source of transformation, fiscal departments actively support the construction of high-level innovation platforms. To support the construction of the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, since 2017, the provincial and Hefei municipal finances have cumulatively allocated over 30 billion yuan, supporting the development of three major science and technology innovation hubs. This has elevated the innovation capacity of five major research institutes within the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and cluster-deployed 13 world-class major scientific infrastructure projects such as the Hefei Advanced Light Source, ranking among the top nationwide.
