According to Anhui Civil Aviation Airport Group, in May this year, Hefei Airport’s passenger throughput year-on-year growth rate exceeded the national airport average by 5 percentage points, placing it among the top tier of airports nationwide in terms of passenger throughput growth.

Since this year’s Spring Festival travel season, Hefei Airport has launched two new international routes: Hefei–Seoul (South Korea) and Hefei–Phuket (Thailand), while increasing the frequency of flights to Singapore, thereby covering key tourist cities in East and Southeast Asia. By the end of May, Hefei Airport operated six international and regional routes, connecting popular destinations such as Osaka (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, and Hong Kong and Macau (China). Additionally, Western Airlines and Jiuyuan Airlines (9air) will open new routes in June from Hefei to Hanoi (Vietnam) and Osaka (Japan), further enriching Hefei Airport’s international route network.

Hefei Airport has introduced various transit passenger benefits such as free rest areas, free accommodation, and free luggage storage to ease transfer difficulties. For urgent and first-time travelers, additional support measures have been implemented, including increased staff guidance, special signage for urgent and first-time passengers, distinctive service wristbands, dedicated “care” check-in counters, and priority security channels — all aimed at continuously enhancing the passenger experience.

By the end of May, Hefei Airport had handled a cumulative passenger throughput of 5.196 million this year and ensured over 40,000 flight takeoffs and landings, representing year-on-year increases of 5.8% and 1.1%, respectively. Among these, the top 10 domestic cities served (including Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc.) accounted for over 54% of passenger throughput, further highlighting Hefei Airport’s role as a regional hub.
