On May 16, coinciding with International Museum Day on May 18, the Lingjiatan Site Museum, located in Tongzha Town, Hanshan County, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, launched its trial opening. For the first time, it systematically presents to the public the archaeological findings and historical value of the Lingjiatan Site, showcasing about 1,100 cultural relics including pottery, jade, stone tools, and bone artifacts. The museum’s exhibition area covers approximately 4,000 square meters and includes one basic exhibition hall and two temporary exhibition halls. Using advanced technologies such as realistic scene reconstruction and digital light projection, the museum vividly recreates the production and daily life of the ancient Lingjiatan people, highlights the brilliant achievements of Lingjiatan culture, and emphasizes the site’s important role in the development of Chinese civilization. Visitors can fully appreciate the unique charm of Lingjiatan culture. Dating back 5,800 to 5,200 years, the Lingjiatan Site is a central settlement from the late Neolithic period in the lower Yangtze River region. It is a representative site of the first phase of the “Ancient Kingdom Era,” known for its dazzling culture symbolized by altars and jade artifacts. In recent years, significant progress has been made in archaeological research, preservation, and utilization of the Lingjiatan Site, providing crucial evidence for in-depth studies on the origin, formation, and development of Chinese civilization.
