Since the beginning of this year, Anhui has been continuously promoting high-level opening-up to the outside world. The combined effects of a series of policies for stabilizing foreign trade have continued to emerge, maintaining a good momentum of steady growth in foreign trade. According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, the total value of goods trade import and export in Anhui Province reached 292.47 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%, ranking 9th nationwide and 1st in central China. Among this, exports amounted to 198.68 billion yuan, up 16.7%; imports totaled 93.79 billion yuan, up 8.8%; exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 142.82 billion yuan, up 18.8%, accounting for over 70% of total exports, with rapid growth in exports of automobiles, laptops, and home appliances.

A relevant official from the Customs Statistics and Analysis Department of Hefei Customs stated: “With the upgrade of import and export structure and enhanced competitiveness, high value-added ‘Made in Anhui’ products are accelerating their entry into overseas markets, becoming an important driving force for the province’s foreign trade growth. In the first four months, Anhui exported high-tech products worth 45.13 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%, and exported 272,000 automobiles, maintaining the top position among all provinces and cities nationwide in terms of export volume.”

Data shows that in the first four months, the province’s general trade, processing trade, and bonded logistics imports and exports all achieved growth. Private enterprises’ import and export value reached 155.33 billion yuan, up 17.7%, accounting for more than half of the total and driving Anhui’s overall import and export growth by 9.1 percentage points during the same period. In terms of markets, emerging markets have been the main driver of foreign trade growth. Trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 157.9 billion yuan, up 14.1%; trade with other RCEP member countries reached 75.38 billion yuan, up 22.8%. The European Union and ASEAN remain Anhui’s first and second largest trading partners, respectively, with both maintaining double-digit growth in imports and exports.
