Recently, reporters visited the Xiangzhang Yayuan community in the Shushan District, Hefei City. Once abandoned factory buildings have now been transformed into a party and community service center for residents.

"This used to be the Hefei Chemical Machinery Factory. We are currently in the area that was once the production zone. The products we made back then were popular both domestically and internationally. As the city developed, the factory gradually relocated. After renovation and upgrades, this place has become a venue for community activities," said Tao Renhao, a retired worker from the Hefei Chemical Machinery Factory.

Once an industrial relic, it is now a revitalized scene. The Wuhu Shipyard's old factory area originated from the Fu Jiheng Machinery Factory established in 1900. The site still retains many old factory buildings and shipbuilding equipment, which have become important carriers of the city's memory over time.

Currently, Wuhu is fully promoting the overall renewal of an 8 square kilometer historical and cultural landscape along the Jinghu Lake area, including the "Old Shipyard—Binjiang Park—Yugeng Mountain—Pedestrian Street—Huanzheshan—Huanjing Lake—Tangzi Lane—Ancient City" project. This aims to create a model for urban renewal that integrates industrial heritage protection with modern urban development.

Urban renewal means a "renewal" of life. In recent years, our province has adhered to the principle of "diagnosis first, then renewal" and "no diagnosis, no renewal." A comprehensive urban examination mechanism has been established to rationally layout the urban "production, living, and ecological" spaces. An implementation system has been set up, including "urban renewal special planning—unit (area) planning—project implementation schemes," focusing on organizing and implementing key urban renewal projects. By using project construction as a carrier, a dynamic project database is updated, and support for urban renewal projects in counties and cities is strengthened, further improving urban functions and enhancing urban quality.

The renovation of old neighborhoods is an important component of urban renewal and a crucial livelihood project. In recent years, our province has steadily advanced the renovation of aging urban neighborhoods and promoted the establishment of long-term management mechanisms for these renovated areas. This year, our province plans to renovate 588 old urban neighborhoods, striving to create a more comfortable, safe, and convenient environment for more residents.

In addition to old neighborhood renovations, micro-governance in urban areas is also an important part of modern urban management. Our province continues to optimize the urban park system, focusing on the construction of "pocket parks," "micro green spaces," and urban greenways. In 2025, the province plans to add 300 kilometers of urban greenways and over 200 new "pocket parks."
