'May Day' holiday: booming tourism consumption and orderly transportation growth

During this year's "May Day" holiday, various measures to stimulate consumption were implemented across Anhui, further unleashing the demand for cultural tourism and other consumer activities. The province enjoyed a prosperous and stable tourism and consumption market during the holiday, with safe, smooth, and orderly transportation.

The past "May Day" holiday was exceptionally lively in the Jianghuai region, with a thriving and orderly consumer market. The province had a rich variety of daily necessities, with ample supply and stable prices. A total of 291 monitored retail and catering sample enterprises achieved a sales volume of 1.469 billion yuan, maintaining steady growth. During the holiday, various places across the province launched a series of cultural, entertainment, and promotional activities. The four-day 2024 Anhui May Day International Auto Show received 243,000 visitors, sold 8,608 new cars, and achieved a sales volume of 1.574 billion yuan. Local commercial authorities organized or guided key commercial enterprises to carry out more than 400 characteristic consumer promotion events.

During the "May Day" holiday, the cultural and tourism market across the province was vibrant and booming. New offerings enhanced the popularity of cultural and tourism activities. 

Throughout the holiday period, a variety of music festivals and cultural performances were rolled out in succession. The electronic music festival at Hefei's Luogang Park stood out among numerous concerts and music festivals nationwide, attracting over one million visitors in five days. Cultural and tourism integration projects were constantly updated with suburban camping and rural homestay courtyards becoming the "new favorites" for celebrating the holiday. During the "May Day" holiday, the province received 49.74 million tourist visits, achieving a tourism revenue of 27.28 billion yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 4% and 13.8%, respectively, and compared to 2019, these figures represent growth of 36.2% and 55%, both reaching historical highs.

During this holiday, there was a significant increase in the number of travelers across the province, with Hefeinan Station alone sending off 882,000 passengers. Hefei Xinqiao International Airport transported nearly 180,000 passengers, with 1,363 flight takeoffs and landings, as most travel was for tourism and visiting relatives.
