On September 7th, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, jointly constructed by China and Indonesia, officially commenced operation, with ticket sales expected to begin commercial operation in early October. This marks Indonesia's entry into the era of high-speed rail and represents a significant achievement in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Indonesia.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail is Indonesia's and Southeast Asia's first high-speed railway. It serves as a flagship project connecting the Belt and Road Initiative and Indonesia's "Global Maritime Fulcrum" concept, showcasing pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia. The entire line adopts Chinese technology and standards.

With a total length of 142.3 kilometers, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail operates at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It starts from Jakarta and ends in Bandung, with four stations: Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar. The fastest travel time between Jakarta and Bandung has been reduced from 3.5 hours to 40 minutes.

The project faced complex geological and environmental conditions, as well as significant construction challenges. More than 20,000 Chinese and Indonesian construction workers devoted over six years to the project. Among them, China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd from Anhui, undertook a 31.17-kilometer section of the project, including bridges, roadbeds, the Tegalluar station, tracks, and the depots.

On September 7th, the builders of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail celebrated the commencement of its operation.
