'What we are creating here is Rainbow BRICS' - South Africa's BRICS Sherpa

"Mandela spoke of the Rainbow Nation, and what we are creating here is a Rainbow BRICS," Anil Sooklal, South Africa's BRICS Sherpa said after the announcement read by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday in Johannesburg that six countries, namely Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, will join the BRICS.

Sooklal believes that the addition of new members "strengthens the presence of the Global South."
