Recently, senior "bird watchers" found the globally endangered rare species black-faced spoonbill (Platalea minor) in the Sanhe Lotus Garden and the lakeside around Chaohu Lake wetland and took pictures of its beautiful posture with the camera. The black-faced spoonbill has a distinctive "black face" with naked black skin around the eyes, a long beak similar to the Chinese lute, and an elegant posture. Therefore it is called the "black-faced angel". Wei Zhenhua, a member of the Waterbird and Wetland Survey Team of Anhui University, also a doctoral student, monitored the black-faced spoonbills during the same period. He said the black-faced spoonbill is a globally endangered species and a national first-class protected animal in China. The discovery of this bird reflects the improvement of the ecological environment quality of the waterbird habitat.
