[Photo/WeChat ID: hefeigaoxinfabu] East China's Anhui province has become the province with the most quantum enterprises in China and the number of quantum enterprises in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui, ranks first among cities in China, according to the 2022 Quantum Science and Technology Industry Report. "Research results show that Hefei has become a highland for the quantum industry in China, and it also occupies an important position on the global quantum industry map," said Zhang Zibin, the head of the Spider Industry Research Institute, which made the report. The report was released at the 2022 Quantum Industry Conference on Sept 21. China's quantum patent applications have grown by leaps and bounds, ranking first in the world. Among all provinces and cities in China, Anhui province's and Hefei city's cumulative number of quantum patent applications rank first, Zhang said. "China's quantum technology has achieved a historical leap. One-third of the country's quantum technology companies are located in Anhui, making the province a highland for the industry in China. Anhui has also formed a relatively complete chain spanning basic research, applied technological research, task tackling of core technologies, engineering and industrialization," said Yao Qun, deputy director of the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Most of Hefei's quantum enterprises are located in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone. The zone has been dubbed the Quantum Center for its thriving quantum industry and is striving to become the World Quantum Center by 2035, which would elevate itself from a domestic leader to a world leader in the industry.
