Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central
Committee, meets on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing
with representatives of all who had participated in the preparations for
the centenary celebrations of the CPC. Xi, also China's president and
chairman of the Central Military Commission, expressed appreciation for
their work and achievements, encouraging them to work hard to make new

Committee, has spoken highly of the grand celebrations of the centenary
of the Party's founding and called for using the strong positive energy
generated by the series of events to pool strength for national
rejuvenation. Xi, who is also China's president and chairman of the Central
Military Commission, met on Tuesday with representatives of participants
in the preparations for the celebrations, and he expressed appreciation
for their work and achievements. While presiding over a recent meeting of the Standing Committee of
the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Xi stressed that
grandly celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding was a
major decision made by the CPC Central Committee from a strategic and
overall perspective, according to a news release issued on Tuesday. During that meeting, Xi called the celebrations a major event for the
Party and the State in the political field, saying that the
celebrations had promoted unity, inspired people and boosted their
morale. As the preparations for the celebrations involved a large number of
people as well as massive coordination efforts, Xi said the participants
had faithfully implemented the decisions and measures of the CPC
Central Committee and worked effectively to make the celebrations a
grand occasion of the Party and a festival for the people. Xi called for taking advantage of the strong passion and positive
energy to pool strength for fully building China into a modern socialist
country. Efforts should be made to draw from the experience and wisdom of the
century-old history of the Party to better understand and leverage the
laws governing historical development, Xi said. He underlined the importance of building a strong Party to ensure it
is, as always, the core of the leadership for the cause of socialism
with Chinese characteristics. Greater efforts should be made to present the CPC's story to the
world in order to effectively improve the global influence of the Party
and the State, Xi said. He called for summing up the successful experiences of organizing the celebration activities. Xi also urged follow-up steps to consolidate the results of the
celebrations, and to work hard to make a good start with the 14th
Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and achieving the second centenary goal of
building a modern socialist country by 2049, when the People's Republic
of China celebrates its centenary. Speaking at Tuesday's meeting with representatives of the
participants in preparations for the celebrations, Wang Huning, a member
of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central
Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee,
called for advancing the thematic campaign of Party history learning.
