KATHMANDU, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Chinese culture talent competition for Nepali students was held here on Tuesday.

Nearly 300 contestants demonstrated their talents through 10 Chinese songs and 10 Chinese modern and classic dances, drawing a frequent outburst of cheers and applause from the audience.

"Every word you speak, every character you write, or every cultural element that you're going to perform here today is a step toward building bridges between our two nations," said Badal Pradhan, principal of the Learning Realm International School in Nepal.

"May this event inspire you all to continue exploring the history of the Chinese language and culture," Pradhan told the primary and secondary school students present for the competition, jointly organized by the Chinese embassy in Nepal and the Volunteers' Home for International Chinese Language Education in Nepal.■
