On November 17, art film ‘Flee and Engulfed’ directed by Chen Hui, with Anhui young filmmaker Tan Xiangyi as chief producer, wrapped in Guangdong.

‘Flee and Engulfed’ explores the relationship between individual dreams and collective dream. The story, which won BBH’s global short film competition prize, reveals the reality and emotional depth of contemporary human beings.

It is reported that Xiangyi Tan, the chief producer, is from Anhui. She is studying for a master’s degree at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating with distinction. In fact, she is not only a producer but also an actress in several films. In October 2021, Tan Xiangyi starred in the feature film ‘Spring in Yangzhou’ in Shanxi, starring a sophomore girl studying in Xi’an. The film tells about her growth experience. At the performance scene, Tan Xiangyi’s delicate and nuanced performance is deeply appreciated by the director Chen Fei and cinematographer Gang Qiang. The film is expected to be released in major theaters across the country next year.
