In 2023, both the production and sales volumes of automobiles nationwide exceeded 30 million units, with Anhui's vehicle output reaching 2.491 million units, a year-on-year increase of 48.1%, accounting for 8.3% of the national total. Anhui is becoming a new force in the national and global automotive industry.

At the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition held recently, JAC Group showcased its vision for the future with concept cars and several new models, demonstrating the company's recent breakthroughs in key core technologies such as power battery systems, intelligent driving, and novel chassis structures.

Represented by JAC Group, whole-vehicle enterprises have become an important strategic support for the development of the provincial automotive industry. JAC Group has also become a significant platform for Anhui's open development and international joint ventures and collaborations. From mutual empowerment with NIO to strategic cooperation with Volkswagen of Germany, the industrial ecosystem driven by JAC Group has attracted numerous vehicle manufacturers and high-end supporting companies to establish operations in Anhui. Currently, Anhui has gathered seven major vehicle manufacturers including JAC Group, Chery, and Volkswagen Anhui, and has preliminarily formed several automotive parts specialty industrial clusters in cities such as Anqing, Xuancheng, Chuzhou, and Ma'anshan.

A favorable industrial ecosystem has attracted many vehicle manufacturers and high-end supporting companies to establish operations in Anhui. In recent years, Volkswagen Group has continued to expand its investments in Anhui; the company's first wholly-owned battery system plant in China has officially commenced production, and construction is underway for the world's second-largest R&D center in Hefei. Not long ago, Volkswagen announced an additional investment of 2.5 billion euros to further expand its production and innovation center in Anhui. After establishing an advanced manufacturing base at the Hefei NeoPark, NIO has this year partnered with Anhui provincial enterprises to promote the construction of open and shared integrated battery storage, charging, and swapping stations.

A series of strategic initiatives have propelled the automotive industry in Anhui province to achieve leapfrog development. In 2023, Anhui's vehicle output reached 2.491 million units, a year-on-year increase of 48.1%, accounting for 8.3% of the national total. Of this, the production of new energy vehicles was 868,000 units, up 60.5% from the previous year, making up 9.1% of the national share. The province exported 1.147 million vehicles, an 80.1% increase compared to the previous year, accounting for 23.4% of the national export share.
