The State Council has approved a plan on ecologic and economic development along the Huaihe River.
The plan, put forward by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), should be focused on prevention and addressing major risks, targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control, the circular stated.
Meanwhile, efforts should be made to promote green development, improve ecological environment along the Huaihe River basin, make innovations in development, and upgrade the economy under regional coordination, in order to build a vigorous and harmonious ecologic and economic belt.
Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan and Hubei provinces should strengthen leadership and make work plans to ensure all tasks will be in place, according to the circular.
Related State Council departments should offer support with regard to institutional innovation, practice of policies, measures and major projects.
NDRC should enhance coordination and services, study and solve problems arising while implementing the plan and carry out follow-up tracking and supervision. Also, major issues should be submitted to the State Council, the circular said.
